Vụ thảm sát xảy ra tại một giáo đường đạo Sikh ở thành phố Oak Creek, bang Wisconsin, Mỹ khoảng 10h30 hôm 5/8 theo giờ địa phương, BBC dẫn lời cảnh sát cho biết. Các nhân chứng kể rằng một người đàn ông da trắng tiến vào bếp của giáo đường, nơi những người phụ nữ đang chuẩn bị bữa ăn, và xả súng. Sau đó y chạy ra bên ngoài và bắn chết hai người nữa. Hung thủ bắn nhiều phát vào một cảnh sát khi người này chạy tới hiện trường. Một cảnh sát khác hạ gục y.
